Moawad Publishes Last Words of the Late René Moawad on the Anniversary of His Martyrdom

On the 31st anniversary of the martyrdom of President René Moawad and his companions, Independence Movement President and Resigned MP Michel Moawad posted, on Twitter, a video of President Moawad’s last words to the Lebanese people shortly before his martyrdom. Commenting on the video, he said: “President René Moawad’s last words to the Lebanese people, on the eve of his martyrdom: History cannot be annulled by a decision … the 22nd of November will continue to be Independence Day.”

 

The following is a written expert of the of Moawad’s last words: “Oh Lebanese, history cannot be annulled by a decision. The 22nd of November will continue to be Independence Day. We will transform it from an occasion to a celebration. Through love, faith and fraternity, we will vanquish despair, regain our pride of belonging to a single identity and territory. I appeal to you, in a question from my heart to yours: Do we love this nation? I already know the answer. Then let us unite in building together, rejoicing and living. Long live Lebanon.”
