Under the patronage of MP Michel Moawad, the independence movement held a preliminary workshop launching the women’s division in the movement.

During the meeting held in Mejdlaya-Zgharta and attended by women from Zgharta Al Zawiya, an unconventional discussion took place concerning the role of women, their social position, their abilities in political and social work, as well as their leadership and its role.

Nadine Roumieh, coordinator of the women’s division in the independence movement, stressed the importance of the role of a “woman
of independence”, an open-minded woman who uses the new and the different in order to bring about a change in society.

In turn, the media and political relations coordinator of the movement, lawyer Tony Chedid, presented a detailed explanation of the political identity of the independence movement.
