Moawad: Two roles are required in the new Elections Law

The president of the ‘Independence Movement’ Michel Moawad stated that two roles were required from the new Elections Law that everyone is expecting. The first role is to allow the Lebanese Citizens to exert accountability. And the second is to give a guarantee to the various Lebanese groups that no hegemony of any kind will be imposed on any of them. It is hegemony that creates Confessionalism, not balance…

Moawad, in a series of tweets on his personal ‘Twitter’ account wrote:
“What is asked for today is to give the Christians the right to be partners with full capacities and rights at the national partnership table, and that they are able to enjoy all the rights that others are enjoying.”

And he added: “We have not been able yet to make a correction to all the present unbalance. Asking for the correction of the unbalance should not be a Christian demand only, it has to be a national demand.”
