A delegation of the Independence Movement youth visited former minister Faisal Karami’s residence in Tripoli after laying wreaths of flowers on the grave of his grandfather former Prime Minister Rashid Karami who was assassinated 27 years ago.

The visit was part of the “honor your martyrs” initiative by the Independence Movement’s youth association.

The Independence Movement youth delegation headed by Antonio Moawad was greeted by members of the Arab Liberation party’s youth movement including Maher Shaarani, Talal Makari and Fouad Kabbara.

“We are here today to honor a great martyr who sacrificed his life for the unity of Lebanon. Late Prime Minister Rashid Karami had a special relation with President Rene Moawad both on the national level and in north Lebanon,” Moawad said.

Moawad added that political disagreements shouldn’t prevent any party from paying tribute to martyrs.
